I attend the Pennsylvania College of Art and Design, discovering that my passion is my cultural identity. My cultural identity motivated me to create work with meaning and morals. Incorporating a mix of African-American culture into my work makes a powerful statement in the art world.  I am invested in  African American lifestyles and experiences.  In my work, the inspiration originated from Maya Angelou. The poem “Still I Rise” symbolizes oppression, struggle, and overcoming obstacles. Another vital figure I was inspired by was LaToya Ruby Frazier; she is known for creating work that impacts African American lives. Latoya's work signifies injustice, community building, and change. Layoya's work builds and seeks change. The influence of direct photography is breathtaking. She creates a stage and shines light through reality within her photos; Therefore, I want to convey that meaning through my work of art.
